Exhibition Stand Graphics

As exhibition stand designers with 20+ years experience of producing stands for a wide variety of companies and industries we have put together a few Golden Rules that we follow to ensure you attract the most visitors to your next exhibition stand:

Consider the surroundings. Generally speaking, bright vibrant colours will help your stand to distinguish itself from the sea of blue or white exhibition stands around you; but in low light conditions (stands in the corners of exhibition halls often tend to get less light), or if your stand is to be placed against a wall with a grey or dark colour, then consider a stand with a mainly white or pale colour as the overall theme, to ensure it stands out in these low-light conditions.

It must work from 2 viewpoints.  Try to design the stand so that it works firstly from 30 feet away, so a large logo or graphic device/colour scheme associated with your company’s brand and a large headline will help people to identify your stand from a distance. Secondly, so that the stand works from 3 feet away when visitors are on your stand reading the smaller text on the stand, there should be enough visual detail within the design to retain their attention when they are viewing the stand up close.

Simplicity. As with all good design simplicity is key, it is better that potential clients learn a couple of significant facts about your business, your USPs perhaps, as they approach your stand rather than nothing at all (which is what will happen if there is an information overload). Try to keep the information communicated to the following:

  • An large eye-catching headline, perhaps a promise to potential customers or a challenge to provoke discussion.

  • A smaller sub-headline that qualifies the headline, or further explains the purpose of either your company or the exhibition stand itself (if the stand is linked to a very niche part of your business or a specific event).

  • The main text, perhaps a short paragraph and/or brief bullet points, going into more detail in a short and succinct manner.

Your stand should be a conversation starter, not the entire conversation mapped out in detail.  â€‹

Be practical. Plan for what parts of the stand may be blocked to the viewer from each side of the stand by any furniture, counters, or products being displayed on the stand and ensure that no vital part of the design is covered by these obstructions. Also bear in mind that any text on the bottom 3 feet of the stand will be difficult to read once the viewer is on the stand (and too small to be read from a distance).

With these 4 principles in mind you are on the right path to a successful exhibition stand design. If you would like to discuss a specific project you have in mind do get in touch: hello@evolvedesign.agency
